Chocolate Smoothie Bowl
This chocolate smoothie bowl is Paleo friendly and has a decent amount of protein to keep you full for several hours. I was inspired for this recipe by a post I came across from Jillian Michaels. This is a woman that I very much admire. I highly recommend you look at what she provides for inspiration, workouts, and food. Her original post for her smoothie bowl recipe is no longer available so I’m unable to link you to the OG.
I made tons of adjustments to meet my own food sensitivities and made it Paleo friendly. Since I am grain free, I don’t get to sit down to a comforting bowl of cereal ever. This chocolate smoothie bowl has become my favorite substitute. It’s cold and smooth but also has texture from the toppings and slightly sweet from the banana. It totally hits the spot when I’m beyond bored of eggs or green smoothies.
Ingredients:
- ½ c. almond milk (I use unsweetened plain or vanilla)
- 1 scoop chocolate protein powder (I use this grass-fed whey isolate)
- 1 Tblsp Cacao powder
- 1 Tblsp Black chia seeds
- 1 Banana
- 1 Tblsp Almond butter
- ½ c. ice
- 1 Tblsp Cacao nibs
- 1 Tblsp shredded or flaked coconut
Instructions:
- Mix in high speed smoothie blender almond milk, protein powder, cacao powder, chia seeds, ½ banana, almond butter and ice. (I use this NutriBullet Pro as my blender and it works great for these small jobs)
- Pour into bowl once mixed well
- Top with cut up pieces of the other ½ banana, cacao nibs & coconut.
After you make your bowl, keep you eye out for thieves. It has become pretty common that little hands are waiting in stealth after I prepare mine and I end up splitting it for sharing. I hope you try this out and enjoy it as much as I do! This is my pull request, please let me know in comments how your bowl turned out. Did you make adjustments and if yes, what?
